Soft Story Retrofit Marina Del Rey
City mayor of Los Angeles, Eric Garcetti mentioned that the significant death toll and destruction in Mexico on September 19, should convince owners and local governments up and down California to get more buildings retrofitted to withstand any quake as soon as possible.
This unbelievable viral video took many people by surprise. Terrified civilians just got hit by and earthquake, right after a collapse of a five story building-remarkable for the detail it shows how the buildings behaved after the earthquake. It has become clear that some buildings are not sturdy enough to keep the foundation of the home together.

Think about that soft story home you have been living in for the last couple of years. All of that time and dedication that you have put in your home can easily be taken away from one earthquake. Like the saying “It only takes once!” Any building owner who thinks they should just sit back and relax for the next 20 years should view that video.
If you are living in a Soft Story home and live in Marina Del Rey you are going to need the retrofit upgrade as soon as possible. Mother nature has no limits and can strike at any minute. With hurricanes, California fires, and earthquakes in Mexico, who knows when we are going to get hit with one. The city of Los Angeles is not taking “no” for an answer, and the retrofit ordinance is mandatory. Not only your safety but for the safety of those around as well.
